In this picture, Vittorio is enjoying a cold cocktail on a hot day under vines in Vignola, Modena. Vittorio, along with his daughter Mariangela are balsamic making masters. They make beautiful Balsamic Vinegar.
Jokingly, we like to call this cocktail, “The Modena Sunset.” It is light and fresh. It is a perfect pre-dinner refreshment.
It contains no added sugars and can be made with or without alcohol!
1/2 part Balsamic Saba
1/2 part sparkling water
1 part white sparkling wine
1 part Campari
Juice of 1 lemon slice
1 lemon slice
A few mint leaves
Ice (optional, but we prefer it with)
1. Add the Campari, mint leaves, and lemon juice to a wine glass
2. Add ice
3. Add wine
4. Add water
5. Add Balsamic Saba
6. Gently mix with a spoon and garnish with lemon slice in the glass
For the mocktail version, simply leave out the alcohol and up the sparkling water to 2 1/2 parts.
