For their 2022/23 olive oil production, the Pinna family invested in a spanking new state-of-the-art olive mill, and they couldn’t be happier with the quality of the extra virgin olive oil that they obtained.

CHALLENGING CLIMATE
Last summer in Sardegna was scorching hot, putting at risk the whole production of the Pinnas. Their 5,000 olive trees, ulivi centenari, do not rely on artificial irrigation. Worried about their precious Bosana olives getting too dry, Gavino Pinna decided to anticipate the harvest and started picking in mid-October. “This move saved the harvest,” Antonella Pinna tells us.

GREEN GREEN GREEN FLAVOR
The second we started pouring Antichi Uliveti extra virgin olive oil 2022/23, we knew this new harvest was a triumph. The aroma is intense, with distinct notes of artichoke, rosemary, and green apple.

The flavor is beautifully balanced, with full body + bold vegetal profile. Not overwhelmingly bitter, the finish is spicy and leaves your mouth clean.

HOW TO USE OLIO NUOVO
Antonella’s favorite is pouring Antichi Uliveti EVOO with abandonment on a bowl of warm rice seasoned with some lemon zest.

Fry a couple of eggs in this liquid gold – recommends Gavino – and you’ll see for yourself that not all fried food is created equal. Food fried or stir-fried in olio nuovo is the most flavorful and fragrant.
