The first bottles of new harvest 2025 extra virgin olive oil are finally here. And this year, they’re more precious than ever.
When we called our producers for our usual tasting sesh, both the Travaglinis in Molise and the Gaudenzis in Umbria told us the same thing: “Sappiamo che quest’anno ce n’è di meno, ma ci godiamo una gran bella annata.” Less quantity, yes. But a truly beautiful vintage.
Climate change and the olive fly made 2025 a challenging year in Centro Italia, especially for our farmers, who are fully organic. Travaglini and Gaudenzi are always the very first to harvest, and that early start, plus their razor sharp understanding of their land, made all the difference. The result is two new EVOOs that are smaller in quantity, but massive in character.
IL TRATTURELLO 2025
This year’s Tratturello is fruitier than 2024, thanks to incredibly healthy Gentile di Larino olives. Aromas of freshly cut grass and artichoke open the bottle. On the palate it begins with a lively spicy touch, opens into a deep, elegant bitterness that coats the mouth, then evolves cleanly into a beautifully clean finish.
This year the Travaglinis earned their certification in Regenerative Agriculture. It’s a guarantee that they’re not only caring for the soil, but building a workplace grounded in ethical practices for the people who farm it.
QUINTA LUNA 2025
Quinta Luna 2025 hits with a bold personality right from the nose. Aromas of chicory jump out immediately, followed by green chili and aromatic herbs. On the palate, those chili notes evolve into black pepper and warm spices.
Andrea Gaudenzi told us this year’s Quinta Luna tastes “remarkably better than last year’s.” Every year, they refine one micro detail at the mill, relentlessly chasing perfection. They made fewer bottles, but obtained an oil that is more aromatic, more bitter, more spicy, and more alive than ever.
