Ciccolella: The Olive Oil We Searched for 25 Years

We have been looking for a true Pugliese Coratina since the very beginning of Gustiamo. Yes, that means more than 25 years of searching. Finally, the Gustiamo olive oil family is growing. Meet Coppadoro, a pure + explosive Coratina extra virgin olive oil from the Ciccolella family, and the newest chapter in our olive oil story.

When we met Giuseppe and Francesca Ciccolella, wandered among their stunning 8,000 olive trees just north of Bari, and took a sip of their oil right where it’s made, everything clicked. Giuseppe and Francesca are not only olive farmers and frantoiani, they’re EVOO nerds, guided by passion, technique, and an obsessive respect for their olives.

The Ciccolella groves sit only 5 km from the coast, where they’re brushed by salty sea breezes. Coppadoro takes its name from the contrada where their Coratina trees are located. This oil is pure Puglia in a bottle, and we could not be more thrilled + proud to finally share it with you.

Coppadoro is 100% Coratina, intense and unapologetic. On the nose, it’s powerful and vertical, bursting with freshly cut grass, green almond, and chicory. On the palate, it’s boldly bitter, herbal, almost balsamic, in harmony with the aromas, with a peppery heat that warms the throat and lingers endlessly. High in polyphenols (900 mg/kg!!!) and extraordinarily persistent, this oil is not a condiment. It is an ingredient that takes up all the space on the stage.

Coppadoro is not meant to hide. It is meant to lead. Drizzle it over bruschetta, legume soups, roasted meats, steak, or anywhere you want a decisive, strong, ferocious taste of southern Italy.
