Tuesday, January 9th 2007 - Truffle Olive Oil... Chemicals!
Dear Friend,
2007 is starting well. In the January 2007 Gourmet Magazine, now on the stands, there is a long article featuring Fulvio Pierangelini, the chef of Gambero Rosso, which has been called the best restaurant in Italy. Having had a spectacular lunch at Gambero Rosso, last summer, we agree. The good news is, when asked about white truffle oils, Pierangelini exclaims: "Chemicals! I detest truffle oils." We couldn't agree more.
Gustiamo never carried truffle olive oils for the same reason: we don't like chemicals either. We only carry Italy's Best Foods and Italy's best extra virgin olive oils no chemicals added. Truffle olive oil is very popular in America. Not even our best friends would believe truffle oil is a product created in a laboratory and not by nature. We are glad we stuck to our original mission and hope you now believe us; At last, we are not alone in our struggle for the truth.
For a merchant, it is hard to resist the temptation of selling a product with such high profit margins and market demand. If you absolutely have to have truffle oil, follow these simple instructions:
1. Buy an excellent EV Olive Oil;
2. Buy some fresh truffles at your local specialty store;
3. Mix 1 and 2.
Have a healthy and honest 2007,
Grazie mille,
Beatrice
